Swamp Thing #30

Part two of "The Gift of the Sureen" arrives in this 2014 New 52 entry, and Jesús Saiz's cover makes the stakes unmistakably clear: Swamp Thing is pinned down, his mossy face twisted in a roar while tendrils are wrenched back by a trio of gas-masked, goggled figures looming over him with an unsettling clinical grip. It's a striking image of the Avatar of the Green at his most vulnerable, held fast by adversaries who look equal parts soldier and scientist.
