Carmen busca a Javier para invitarlo a su fiesta de cumpleaños ya que cumple dieciséis años. Ella y los viejos amigos de Javier no lo han visto mucho últimamente porque ha estado saliendo con Francesca, la hija de un hombre rico, para avanzar en su carrera. Cuando Francesca le propone matrimonio con la perspectiva de ser el sucesor en el negocio de su padre, Javier piensa en lo que le dijo Carmen y le abre los ojos. Decide que quiere lograrlo por su propio esfuerzo y elegir a su propia esposa, no que ella lo elija a él.
