Susana #122
In "Más allá de la belleza," Gracia—a quiet, unassuming employee with large eyes hidden behind glasses—unexpectedly lands the role of secretary to a man known for his charm and reputation as a womanizer. Written and illustrated entirely by Josefina, this 1961 story from Ediciones Toray explores the quiet shift when the boss’s son, drawn to her in ways no one else expected, begins to see beyond appearances. The cover, also by Josefina, captures the moment’s quiet tension with striking simplicity.

Gracia was the most insignificant of all the employees: discreet, quiet, her large eyes veiled behind glasses. When she was chosen by the boss of the company to be the secretary for his son, who had a reputation as a womanizer and was chased by all the girls of marriageable age, she understood it was precisely because she was not as pretty as the others that she got the job. But the son falls in love with her.
