The final issue of Vertigo's Survivors' Club arrives with a hauntingly atmospheric cover by Bill Sienkiewicz — a solitary figure in a Victorian gown stands silhouetted against diffused light, surrounded by the decaying grandeur of a dimly lit room hung with dark framed pictures. There's something deeply unsettling in the quiet of that image, the fiery outline around the figure hinting at forces that refuse to stay buried. Writers Lauren Beukes and Dale Halvorsen, alongside artist Ryan Kelly, colorist Eva de la Cruz, and the rest of the creative team, close out this mature-readers series in August 2016 with "The Monsters Inside" — a title that feels entirely fitting for a story that has always understood how horror lingers long after the experience ends.
