In "Den skjebnesvangre applausen," Superman faces a perilous twist during the Superman Day parade in Metropolis, where a devious scheme by Mr. Gimmick sets his hands to explode upon applause. With the city watching and time running short, Superman must find a way to stop the blast—before the crowd's celebration turns into chaos. Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane, and a few familiar faces are caught in the midst of the unfolding danger, as even the smallest gesture could trigger disaster.

In this flashback tale, Lois Lane remains unmoved by the arrival of the new hero Supermann—until a dose of Red Kryptonite strips him of his powers, revealing the man beneath the cape. With his strength gone, she witnesses his courage and heart firsthand, and something in her begins to shift.
