Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane #47

A delightful "what if?" fantasy from DC's 1964 lineup, this issue teases an imaginary story in which Lois Lane becomes a costumed Super-Woman — and the cover by Kurt Schaffenberger makes the role-reversal immediately thrilling. Lois, towering in a superhero costume and mask, levels what appears to be a Phantom Zone projector at an ordinary-looking Clark Kent, her speech bubble promising to banish him forever for his Red Kryptonite mischief. The bold, clean composition perfectly captures the playful premise of writer Leo Dorfman's "The Incredible Delusion!" — a world where the familiar power dynamic between these two characters is gleefully turned on its head.
