With help from Adam Strange, Superman is able to return to Earth. But he is unable to accept his life back on Earth knowing that he had promised to save the people of Newark, and he seeks out Black Adam's help to find a way back to Newark. Meanwhile, Lois hides her cancer from Clark, thereby infuriating Luthor, who expected a confrontation with Superman as a reaction to his causing Lois' condition.
