In "Grounded Part Three," Superman walks across America, stopping in Cincinnati and Danville, Ohio, where he shares his reasons with Batman. A mysterious fragment from New Krypton infects a teacher, who unknowingly passes it to the town drunk—turning him into a temporary superpowered figure who challenges Superman. The ensuing fight devastates Danville, leaving the hero blamed despite his efforts to repair the damage. Written by J. Michael Straczynski and illustrated by Eddy Barrows, with inks by J. P. Mayer, colors by Rod Reis, and letters by John J. Hill, the issue features a cover by John Cassaday.

Superman continues walking across the country, visiting Cincinnati, and then Danville, Ohio. He explains to Batman why he's doing this. Meanwhile, a fragment of New Krypton has infected a teacher, and she passes the infection on to the town drunk, who gains superpowers from it. He challenges and fights Superman. The fight destroys a lot of the town before the powers wear off. Although Superman fixes the damage, he is blamed for causing it.
