Superman #4/1966
In a series of vivid flashbacks, the story explores the origins of Superman’s first great act, as Dr. Reese Kearns investigates the moment young Kal-El, still a baby on his journey to Earth, defied fate by altering the path of a deadly meteor. With the fate of the planet hanging in the balance, the infant Superbaby’s instinctive courage sets the stage for the hero he will become.
In this 1966 tale from Superman #4, Superman reunites with his cousin Supergirl, Kara Zor-El, who arrives on Earth after Argo-City—her home planetoid—survives centuries in space thanks to a lead shell and weather dome. When a meteor swarm breaches the protective layer, Kara is sent to Earth, where Superman safely delivers her to a children’s home in Midvale, placing her under the care of Miss Hart.
