Superior Carnage Annual #1

Two writhing symbiote forms — all razor claws, jagged teeth, and churning red-and-black tendrils — clash against a fog-shrouded urban skyline on Rafa Garres's viscerally rendered cover for this 2014 annual. The sheer physical chaos of the image captures everything unsettling about Carnage: the symbiote seems almost to devour itself, a mass of organic violence with no clear center. Writer Cullen Bunn and artists Kim Jacinto and Mike Henderson make this oversized issue a compelling addition to the Superior Carnage corner of Marvel's 2014 lineup.
