Superboy #13
Early 1951 brings 52 big pages of the Boy of Steel in a genuinely charming setting — Superboy grins alongside a group of Boy Scouts in a woodland clearing, cheerfully bending a young sapling into a knot while a Scout reaches out to grab a leafy branch, with another uniformed Scout watching in the background. Cover pencils by John Sikela and inks by Ed Dobrotka give the scene a warm, wholesome energy that perfectly suits the promise of "The Super-Boy Scout of Smallville!" Interior art comes from the always-reliable Curt Swan, with Alvin Schwartz at the writing helm — a solid creative team for a story that looks like it trades capes-and-villains drama for something a little more down-to-earth and fun.
