Superboy #11/1969
In "Adjø Smallville," Superboy is stunned when his long-lost parents, Jor-El and Lara, arrive from Krypton after surviving the planet's destruction in a flawed rocket. After years of searching, they’ve finally reached Earth—only to find their son ready to leave again, abandoning the Kents with a cold farewell that shatters their hearts. Meanwhile, in prison, Duke Mason deciphers a hidden code that could expose Superboy’s secret identity, setting a dangerous chain of events in motion.
In "Adjø Smallville," Superboy’s carefully constructed identity begins to unravel when a sudden meteor strike strands him and the supposed Kryptonian parents—Jor-El and Lara—on an asteroid. Back on Earth, Martha and Jonathan Kent prepare to accept honors at a banquet meant to celebrate their role as Superboy’s adoptive parents, unaware that the boy they raised is not who they think. A mysterious note hidden by their cat reveals the truth: the entire heroic persona was a performance, and the real Clark Kent is about to return—just as a lifelike dummy, crafted by Pa Kent as a joke, takes his place at the celebration.
