Super Comics #89
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeSuper Comics #89 brings together a terrific lineup of newspaper strip favorites under one Dell cover, with header portraits of Dick Tracy, Smitty, Tiny Tim, Harold Teen, and Winnie Winkle promising plenty of variety inside. The spotlight belongs to Smitty, as the cover — penciled by Walter Berndt — delivers a wonderfully chaotic poolside scene: a heavyset fellow in a striped bathing suit has crashed spectacularly into a shallow wading pool, sending water flying while a small child, a grinning blonde teen, and a young lifeguard rushing over with a life preserver all react to the mayhem. It's a lighthearted, summery slice of 1945 comic strip humor that captures exactly the kind of cheerful, all-ages fun this anthology was known for.
