In "The Curse of the Black Monkey," a mysterious and seemingly cursed black monkey becomes an unexpected burden for Dusty, the Shield’s young partner, after surviving a string of tragic fates with its past owners. When the Shield learns from an anthropologist that the creature is a feared idol tied to the sinister Thuggi cult of India, he and Higgins devise a plan to send the monkey far from home—dispatching it to Japan in a desperate bid to end its trail of misfortune.
