Dell's long-running anthology series brings together a terrific lineup of newspaper-strip favorites — Dick Tracy, Smitty, Orphan Annie, Tiny Tim, Winnie Winkle, and Harold Teen — all spotlighted in the character portraits running down the right side. The cover scene itself is a tense standout: a yellow-coated Dick Tracy, pistol drawn, watches from a clifftop as a red car careens off the edge into a dramatic plunge. It's a wonderfully atmospheric December 1947 package that captures the gritty, cinematic energy that made Tracy the star attraction of this Dell anthology.
