“The Secret History of Task Force X Part 1”

Harley Quinn levels a pistol with cool-eyed confidence while Killer Croc looms in the foreground and a battle-ready male operative surges alongside her — it's a striking cover by Stjepan Šejić that sets an appropriately dangerous tone for "The Secret History of Task Force X." This 2018 DC collection gathers work by writer Rob Williams and artist Eleonora Carlini as the Squad's shadowy origins come under the spotlight. If you've ever wanted to dig into what makes this volatile team tick, Vol. 6 looks like a compelling place to start.

On an Argent space satellite, Katana, Harley, Boomerang, and Croc meet Rick Flag Sr. and Karin Grace, the surviving members of the original Task Force X. Flag tries to recruit the Squad to travel to the Moon to face the Red Wave Monster, a menace that was defeated by the original Task Force X decades ago and imprisoned in a secret prison inside the Moon. Meanwhile, Deadshot, El Diablo, and Enchantress are attacked by robots at an abandoned Argent air base in Nevada.
