The USS Whitefin's gyro-compass malfunctions during a patrol, forcing the submarine to navigate blindly until a mysterious force guides them to an area where they discover a man on a mudbank. The rescued man is identified as Konrad von Arble, a valuable German scientist, but his presence aboard raises suspicions among the crew about how he survived and what his true mission might be. When a diver attempts to investigate a jammed propeller cable, an Air Force plane arrives and attacks the submarine, forcing them to submerge and escape while the diver remains in danger on the hull.

Hidden Menace
5 pp · War

A Japanese submarine, damaged and hiding in a Pacific harbor, awaits its chance to sink an anchored transport loaded with thousands of troops—but two men from Underwater Demolition Team 38, Stubby Ream and Max, discover the lurking threat when oil in the water gives the enemy away. Racing against time and the sub's engines, the pair must use skill, nerve, and their synchronized buddy system to neutralize the hidden menace before the landing begins.

The World Below
7 pp · War

Lt. Commander Arden captains the submarine Whitefin on a mysterious investigation into a strange area of the South Atlantic where ships have capsized and planes have vanished without a trace—all victims of an inexplicable magnetic disturbance. As the sub draws closer to the source, instruments fail and an enormous whirlpool threatens to pull the vessel into an undersea grotto, forcing Arden to make a desperate decision to save his crew. This tense 1958 tale explores what might lurk beneath the waves when science meets the unknown.

Gestapo's Prize
7 pp · War

An American submarine engineering officer—freshly converted from MIT research scientist—finds himself the sole prize of a Nazi U-boat after his vessel sinks. Captured and interrogated by the Gestapo at Kiel, Lieutenant Wehrner faces mind-bending interrogation tactics designed to extract secrets about a revolutionary submarine propulsion process. But his crewmates aboard the captured U-boat have a desperate plan that hinges on whether Wehrner can outsmart his captors long enough to turn the tables.

Below the Storm
5 pp · War

A frogman in World War II must defuse a deadly mine tangled around his destroyer's propeller while Japanese planes strafe the helpless ship from above. With only minutes and nerve, he'll have to work underwater under fire to free the vessel—or watch her go sky-high. "Below the Storm" is a tense, high-stakes dive into combat heroism at its most claustrophobic.
