Sub-Mariner #4

Part four of this six-issue limited series drops Namor — barefoot, shirtless, his winged ankles just visible — into the crushing grip of a symbiote-clad Venom, whose massive jaws loom inches from the Sub-Mariner's face in a genuinely unsettling close-quarters struggle. Marko Djurdjević's painted cover work gives the confrontation a raw, almost visceral weight, with symbiote tendrils fracturing the white background like cracks in glass. Cherniss, Johnson, and Briones deliver this "Revolution" tie-in to The Initiative at the series' midpoint, and the cover makes a strong case that Namor's troubles have followed him well above the waterline.
