Namor, the Sub-Mariner, lives up to his cover-line billing as "Scourge of the Sea" in this 1954 Atlas Comics entry, rendered with striking energy by cover artist Joe Maneely. The cover puts Namor center stage — bare-chested and fierce in his signature green trunks — snatching a rifle from one opponent while a uniformed officer looms behind him with manacles, all set aboard what appears to be a military vessel surrounded by armed sailors. Bill Everett, who handles all interior duties on the story "Flashback!", brings his full craft to an issue that already impresses from the outside in.
