In this 1967 gem from Topps, reporter Lousy Laine uncovers a shocking secret: her mundane coworker Clerk Kant is the masked hero Stuporman. When her exposé hits the front page, Stuporman’s identity is out—forcing a dramatic escape and a sudden transformation into his third persona, Captive American. The twist? His neighbors saw the whole change, setting off a chain of chaos neither he nor the city is ready for. Written by Roy Thomas and illustrated with manic energy by Wally Wood—pencils and inks both—this issue’s cover by Wood captures the absurdity perfectly.
