Strange Tales #17
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeFrom Atlas Comics' 1953 anthology series comes Strange Tales #17, its cover by Carl Burgos delivering a genuinely unsettling scene: a skeletal, decaying figure rises at a table, confronting a horrified man while another slumps nearby, a gun and playing cards scattered between them — all punctuated by the defiant cry, "It takes more than a Ratfield's bullet to kill a McKay!!" The lead story is the ominously titled "Death Feud!," and the issue also promises three more tales of dread, including Joe Sinnott's "Danny Had a Dream," alongside "The Big Kill!" and "Five Years Too Late!" — each teased with their own creepy thumbnail vignettes down the left side of the cover. Pre-Comics Code Atlas horror at its atmospheric best, this is a fine snapshot of early-'50s suspense anthology publishing.
