Strange Adventures #122

DC's Strange Adventures #122 from 1960 presents a wonderfully imaginative sci-fi twist on an ancient tale, with Murphy Anderson's cover depicting a towering alien giant in a bold red-and-yellow suit looming over a small group of soldiers and a young boy clutching a slingshot. A speech bubble urges the soldiers to hold their fire and give the boy his chance — a tense, David-vs.-Goliath standoff rendered with Anderson's clean, confident linework. Paired with a bonus Star Hawkins story, this ten-cent issue is a fine example of DC's Silver Age sci-fi anthology storytelling at its most inventive.
