Strange #4
Part four of Marvel Knights' reimagining of Stephen Strange finds its protagonist cornered and desperate in a dark urban alley, surrounded on all sides by a snarling horde of shadowy demonic creatures with glowing red eyes. Brandon Peterson's cover work is viscerally effective — the star-filled sky peeking between city buildings overhead gives the scene an eerie, otherworldly beauty even as the danger closes in. With J. Michael Straczynski and Samm Barnes steering the story, this 2005 series continues to put a grounded, street-level spin on Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme.
