Strange #171
In "… une journée particulière," Rom finds himself in Scotland tracking a Wraith Piper who’s ensorcelled a village of children, drawing them into a dark ritual as Earth aligns with the Dark Sun of the Black Nebula. With the portal to Wraithworld opening and the Dweller on the Threshold poised to cross, Rom fights to close the rift—only to be trapped on the other side as it seals behind him. Meanwhile, Steve and Torpedo uncover a shocking truth: Doctor Dredd isn’t just a Wraith, but has merged with Brandy and Starshine, forcing her into servitude. Written by Bill Mantlo and illustrated by Sal Buscema, with inks by Ian Akin and Brian Garvey, and colors by Ben Sean, the issue’s cover by Jean Frisano captures the eerie tension of a world teetering between realms.

In Scotland, Rom tracks down a Wraith Piper who has ensorcelled an entire village of children to follow him. With Earth and the Dark Sun of the Black Nebula aligned, the Piper opens a portal to Wraithworld and invites the Dweller on the Threshold to come through and make the children his Wraith slaves. Rom drives the Dweller back, but the portal to Earth closes with Rom on the other side of it. Meanwhile, Steve and Torpedo discover that, not only is Doctor Dredd a Wraith who has merged Brandy and Starshine, but has also forced her to commit to serve him.
