Straight Arrow #17 brings the original Indian hero of radio fame to vivid life in this September 1951 issue from Magazine Enterprises. Fred Meagher's cover art puts the hero front and center in a dramatic display of strength — Straight Arrow hoists an opponent overhead while two more adversaries press in around him, with tepees visible on the rocky terrain behind them, all setting the stage for the "Apache Raiders" story within. For a dime, this was exactly the kind of bold, action-packed cover that made the Western hero genre so compelling in the early 1950s.
