True Bow reveals he defeated Red Hawk in a series of competitions—archery, wrestling, snow snake racing, foot and pony racing, and lacrosse—and boasts of his superiority. Straight Arrow then guides True Bow through the plains where a buffalo herd is being hunted, and the two encounter Red Cloud and his warriors on a peaceful mission; when Red Cloud's hunters fire on them, a battle ensues that Straight Arrow must resolve by riding to confront Red Cloud and explain that he comes in peace.
Straight Arrow faces a cunning band of outlaws who've outfitted themselves with metal armor and helmets—making them immune to bullets and seemingly unstoppable on the frontier's stage routes. The great Comanche chieftain must use his wits as much as his arrows to uncover the secret behind their invulnerability and devise a plan to bring them to justice.
Straight Arrow rides deep into dangerous territory on a sacred mission to end the centuries-old bloodshed between the Apache and Shoshone nations, but his peacemaking efforts become complicated when he discovers True Bow, an Apache warrior, torn between his people and his love for Ma-ti-ki, a Shoshone maiden. With both tribes now pursuing their rival warriors across the plains, Straight Arrow must use cunning and his trusted horse Fury to navigate the escalating conflict and find a path to reconciliation.
When a young warrior named Red Hawk dominates every competition at a gathering of Cheyenne and Sioux tribes, his rivals' jealousy turns dangerous—and he's knocked unconscious during a lacrosse game. Red Hawk awakens to an accusation of theft: a sacred bow has been found hidden in his bed, and his own amulet discovered in the Sioux camp. Facing punishment he didn't deserve, Red Hawk must uncover the truth behind the frame-up before his honor is lost forever in "The Devil Bag!"
When ruthless hide-hunters threaten to slaughter the buffalo herds that sustain the Comanche people, Straight Arrow rides into action to stop the greedy killers before their guns ignite a devastating war. Working with Comanche chief Red Cloud, he devises a daring plan to protect both the herds and his allies—but when the hunters refuse to listen to reason, Straight Arrow must use every trick in his arsenal to turn the tables on the murderous poachers.
