Pauline Réage's celebrated novel gets a striking visual treatment in this 1978 Grove Press edition, adapted and illustrated entirely by Guido Crepax. The cover lays out the work's graphic-novel format immediately, presenting a vivid multi-panel sequence: a vintage automobile purring away ("VROO…"), a close-up of a man's face issuing sharp commands, and a fur-coated woman removing her garters against a snowy backdrop — all rendered in Crepax's bold, warm-toned linework.
