Steel faces down a massive, snarling black panther amid a murky jungle setting — claws out, jaws wide, the beast lunges at the armored hero as his red cape billows dramatically behind him. Dave Johnson's cover for this June 1997 issue sells the tension immediately, pitting Steel's gleaming steel suit against raw, ferocious nature under the blood-dripped "PREY!" tagline. With Christopher Priest writing and Denys Cowan and Tom Palmer on interiors, this creative team was one of the stronger combinations DC had going at the time.
