A young woman in sleek black clothing stands at the center of this striking cover, her expression cool and guarded as she's flanked by imposing mechanical figures wreathed in pipes, gears, and gleaming armor — perfectly embodying the industrial gothic mood of the "Mechanica Sundown" arc. Chris Bachalo's pencils and Richard Friend's inks give everything a beautifully intricate, almost organic quality, where flesh and machine seem to blur at the edges. Part two of "Machines" promises the kind of dark, inventive atmosphere that made this Cliffhanger/WildStorm title one of 2001's more visually ambitious offerings.
