Static: Season One #5

The fifth chapter of DC and Milestone's Static: Season One arrives with a cover by Khary Randolph that says everything you need to know about the stakes: Virgil Hawkins, suit and all, is trapped inside a glowing geometric force-cube, electricity crackling violently across the dark void surrounding him as he strains against the walls with every bit of power he can muster. That image of a hero fighting to break free from the inside out is a genuinely striking visual promise for an issue subtitled "Prison Break." Writer Vita Ayala and artist Nikolas Draper-Ivey have been building something special with this Milestone Returns series, and this penultimate chapter looks to push Static to his absolute limit.
