Issue #6 opens the second story arc of Marvel's 'Star Wars: Legacy of Vader' — the only ongoing comic series set in the largely unexplored window between 'The Last Jedi' and 'The Rise of Skywalker' — and marks Kylo Ren's first pursuit of a surviving Order 66 Jedi in the series. The issue introduces Grandea, a new-to-canon Jedi Knight whose singular mastery of the Jedi Mind Trick allowed her to survive both the initial purge and decades of Imperial and First Order rule, making her a meaningful addition to the roster of canon Order 66 survivors. It also deepens the ongoing Kylo Ren/General Hux power struggle, a characterization thread the series uses to fill the narrative gap the sequel films left largely unaddressed. As the conclusion of the first collected volume (issues 1–6), the issue carries added structural significance as a chapter break in Soule's long-form storytelling plan for Kylo's reign.

History

The series was conceived by writer Charles Soule in deliberate conjunction with Marvel's broader 2025 Star Wars publishing realignment, which divided ongoing comics by trilogy era; Soule had begun discussions about the project well before his previous 'Star Wars' run ended in 2024. Soule drew explicitly on his prior Kylo-focused work — the 2019 miniseries 'The Rise of Kylo Ren' — as a creative foundation, describing the new series as an opportunity to explore a character at his most emotionally volatile, freshly empowered as Supreme Leader. Issue #6 continues the artistic collaboration of penciller/inker Luke Ross and colorist Nolan Woodard, with Derrick Chew providing the main cover and a variant cover supplied by Chris Sprouse, inked by Karl Story and colored by Neeraj Menon, timed in part to coincide with the 10th anniversary of 'The Force Awakens.'

The issue launches a new story arc: Vaneé tasks Kylo Ren with hunting down Grandea, an Order 66-surviving Jedi Knight who used the Force Mind Trick to compel clone troopers to attack each other during the Purge, allowing her escape.
Grandea (first appearance in this issue) is depicted hiding on the snowy planet Lahtee and is described as possibly a new species; her survival method — Force Mind Trick used offensively against clone troopers — is presented as unique within established canon lore.
The issue also develops the deepening antagonism between Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and General Hux, framed around the First Order's conquest of Corellia to recover shipbuilding capacity.
