Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeStar Wars: Legacy of Vader #1 is the first ongoing Marvel Comics series to place Kylo Ren—as Supreme Leader—at its center, filling in the previously unexplored gap between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker in the official Star Wars canon. It marks the debut of Vaneé in a major comic-book role, bringing the Rogue One film character into a sustained canon narrative for the first time and positioning him as a recurring antagonist who bridges the Imperial and First Order eras. The issue also inaugurates a structural rarity in Star Wars publishing: an ongoing series anchored to the sequel trilogy era, a period that had received comparatively little comic-book coverage. By tying Kylo Ren's psychological unraveling directly to Darth Vader's physical legacy at Fortress Vader on Mustafar, the issue expands the canon explanation for Kylo's obsession with his grandfather that The Rise of Skywalker only gestured toward.

The series was first teased by writer Charles Soule at New York Comic-Con 2024, then formally announced on StarWars.com on October 24, 2024, with the first issue released February 5, 2025. Soule—who had previously written Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren (2019) and the acclaimed Star Wars: Darth Vader – Dark Lord of the Sith run (2017)—explicitly conceived Legacy of Vader as a work that completes a trilogy of his own Star Wars projects, bookending his earlier Kylo Ren miniseries. Artist Luke Ross, who had previously collaborated with Soule on Star Wars: Darth Vader (2020) and contributed to War of the Bounty Hunters, was paired with colorist Nolan Woodard and letterer VC Joe Caramagna, with Mark Paniccia serving as editor. The series was announced as part of Marvel's broader editorial shift toward the post-Return of the Jedi and sequel-trilogy timelines in its ongoing Star Wars line.
