Star Wars #78

A lone rebel pilot finds himself in dire straits on this December 1983 cover, caught between two massive, snarling creatures on what appears to be a frozen, treacherous world — the title "Hoth Stuff!" says it all. Bob Layton's cover art captures the tension brilliantly, with the man desperately clutching some kind of equipment while enormous clawed hands close in from both sides. Marvel's Star Wars #78 delivers exactly the kind of pulse-quickening outer-rim danger that made this series such a compelling companion to the films.
