Star Wars #74
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeStar Wars (2015) #74 is the penultimate chapter of the entire 75-issue modern Marvel Star Wars run that began in 2015, making it the second-to-last canonical comic story bridging the gap between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi in that volume's era. As 'Rebels and Rogues Part VII,' it brings three simultaneous Rebel missions to their dramatic convergence point — including the jaw-dropping Chewbacca-versus-Darth-Vader hand-to-hand confrontation that gave the issue its memorable tagline — while also seeding the Rebellion's search for a new base that will ultimately resolve as the discovery of Hoth. It represents the climax of Greg Pak and Phil Noto's final arc on the series, a sprint to the finish line that underscores the creative ambition of their short but energetic run.

Writer Greg Pak and artist Phil Noto joined the Star Wars (2015) series with issue #68 as the title entered its final stretch, following Jason Aaron's and then Kieron Gillen's long tenures. Pak's 'Rebels and Rogues' multi-part arc split its three storylines across separate planets and crews, a structural choice that Noto reinforced visually by assigning a distinct color palette to each location — a storytelling technique readers noted allowed them to orient themselves instantly on each page turn. Issue #74 was published on November 13, 2019, with a January 2020 cover date, one week before the series finale (#75), and was later collected in the trade paperback Star Wars Vol. 13: Rogues and Rebels alongside #73, #75, and the Star Wars: Empire Ascendant (2019) one-shot.
