“A Princess Alone!”

Princess Leia runs blaster-in-hand across a precarious platform, caught between closing Stormtroopers in this 1979 Marvel issue subtitled "A Princess Alone!" — and the cover tagline "Trapped in an Imperial Stronghold!" makes the stakes abundantly clear. Carmine Infantino's pencils (inked by Bob Wiacek) give the scene real kinetic energy, with armored Imperial soldiers pressing in from both sides against a bold sci-fi cityscape backdrop. It's a fine showcase for Leia's courageous, never-surrender spirit, brought to life by a creative team that includes writer Archie Goodwin and artist Gene Day on the interior pages.
