Star Trek: Lower Decks #1
"Star Trek: Lower Decks #1" kicks off with the Cerritos responding to a new diplomatic mission in the Qvanti system, following a tense peacekeeping effort between the Satarrans and Catullans. While the crew relaxes on the holodeck—first diving into a classic Dixon Hill thriller, then a Sherlock Holmes mystery—a system glitch overwrites the safety protocols, leading to an unintended consequence: a sentient Dracula has been brought to life. Written by Ryan North and illustrated by Chris Fenoglio, with colors, inks, and letters all by Fenoglio, the issue blends the show’s signature humor with a surprisingly eerie twist, all wrapped in a cover by Chris Fenoglio.

After mediating a conflict between Satarrans and Catullans, the Cerritos is dispatched on a second contact mission to the Qvanti system. While enroute, the lower decks crew enjoy down time on the holodeck, first in a Dixon Hill adventure, then in a Sherlock Holmes adventure. Beckett tries to show how the holodeck safeguards will prevent them from creating a real threat, however, during a glitch with the ship's systems, the safeguards are overwritten, and they accidentally create a sentient Dracula.
