Star Trek: Early Voyages #1

Drawing on the pilot era of the original Star Trek television series, this double-sized first issue from Marvel's 1997 Paramount Comics line puts Captain Pike front and center as commander of the U.S.S. Enterprise — visible in the background alongside a fiery, action-charged tableau. The cover by Patrick Zircher and Greg Adams packs the frame with Pike's crew in full tension, phasers raised and expressions locked in fierce determination, with a pointy-eared officer looming large above them all. Writers Dan Abnett and Ian Edginton, with art by Zircher, kick off "Flesh of My Flesh" as a bold exploration of the voyages that predated Kirk's legendary tenure.
