Star Trek #53
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis 1978 Whitman edition pulls no punches with George Wilson's striking cover: a towering, one-eyed giant clutches Kirk, Spock, and another crew member helplessly in his enormous hand, their tiny figures dwarfed against his gaping maw — a visceral image that sets the mythological stakes immediately. The cover copy promises "Ancient Greek deities force Kirk and Spock on an odyssey of peril," and a small inset panel of the two officers in the upper corner only deepens the sense of dread. With a story titled "What Fools These Mortals Be..." and writer George Kashdan and artist Al McWilliams aboard, this issue looks like a wonderfully unsettling blend of classical mythology and deep-space adventure.
