Star Trek #18

This issue of IDW's Star Trek puts Uhura front and center, her Starfleet uniform and composed expression radiating quiet authority against a backdrop of swirling concentric rings and streaming alien script. A ghostly silhouetted figure looms beneath her in the design, overlaid with cascading Vulcan-style characters that hint at mysteries of communication and identity. With interior work by artist Claudia Balboni and writer Ryan Parrott, and Tim Bradstreet's striking photo-composite cover lending the whole thing a cinematic intensity, issue #18 is a compelling chapter in IDW's Kelvin-timeline adventures.
