Simon has to go to Australia for five years as a research scientist and doesn't think it fair to ask her to wait for him. When his letters stop, she finds an old posting near Woomaloo asking for a secretary and leaves before getting Simon's cable warning her not to come. She arrives to discover that Woomaloo is just a collection of deserted wooden shacks as plans to build a holiday resort there had been abandoned. With no secretary job needed, she suggests to the farmer that had posted the job opening that they start a country club catering to the residents at the research station.
