Julie's life changes when a tall stranger sails his ship into the harbor of the tiny New Zealand fishing town where she lives. But Tom is only interested in the upcoming Marewa yacht race and shows no romantic interest in Julie. Her old friend, Alan, comes up with a plan to make Tom jealous by pretending to be Julie's boyfriend. But Julie doesn't realize that Alan truly does love her.
