“The Fight!”

In "The Fight!", Ken Connell grapples with personal tensions and a growing sense of purpose as his relationships with Debbie and Barbara strain under pressure. After a failed attempt to confront President Reagan, he’s overwhelmed by three escaped paranormals—Mr. Lovejoy, Mrs. Kaminski, and Deanie—leaving him shaken and humiliated by his own vulnerability. Written by Jim Shooter and illustrated with dynamic precision by John Romita Jr., with inks by Al Williamson and colors by Christie Scheele, this issue captures the raw, uncertain edge of a man testing his limits. The cover by John Romita Jr. and Al Williamson perfectly frames the moment’s tension.

Ken Connell continues his relationships with both Debbie and Barbara, but Barbara begins to suspect him. He decides to confront President Reagan, but gets cold feet on the White House lawn. Later, Connell encounters three paranormals, Mr. Lovejoy aka "Scrunch", Mrs. Kaminski and Deanie, who are escapees from a mental hospital. The paranormals manage to knock Connell unconscious, leaving him ashamed for letting himself lose control and be beaten by them.
