What a genuinely delightful concept — Stan Lee himself, rendered in cartoon form against a New York City skyline complete with Radio City Music Hall and 5th Avenue street signs, swinging alongside Spider-Man as golden stars burst around them both. The cover by Olivier Coipel and Mark Morales captures the pure joy of the pairing, with Spidey mid-web-swing while a grinning, sunglasses-wearing Lee seems to be radiating some kind of sparkling energy from his hand. Stan Lee writes the story himself, making this one of those wonderfully self-aware Marvel moments where the man behind so many beloved characters steps directly into the world he helped create.
