Stephan Clement flyr från ett misslyckat rån i en juvelerarbutik i Frankrike och hamnar i Schweiz, där han tar anställning hos skogshuggarfamiljen Schwarzenberger. Han blir dock upptäckt av polisen och han och Schwarzenbergers dotter, Alice, hjälper honom att fly.
