# Spy-Hunters #14 This issue contains at least two spy stories. "The Greedy Spy" follows American occupation official Walter Crane, who is captured by a red spy named Khiftan on Hokkaido Island and forced up a mountain while being tortured. When Crane spots a star anise plant, he identifies its juice as poisonous and tricks the greedy Khiftan into drinking it, resulting in the spy's death and Crane's escape. A second story involves a hypnotist spy at a theatrical performance who attempts to use mind control on a professor, but operatives discover his plot and apprehend him using acetylene gas from a cigar.
