“The Love-Bug Bites”

In "The Love-Bug Bites," Spunky’s sprained ankle sets off a chain of comedic mishaps when his father assigns the ranch chores to Stanley. What starts as a simple case of pretending to be injured quickly spirals when Stanley’s attempt to mimic Spunky’s limp backfires—leading to an accidental sprain of his own. Written and illustrated by Jack Bradbury, this 1949 tale captures the lighthearted chaos of rural life with a touch of slapstick, all drawn in the expressive style that defines the series. The cover by Jack Bradbury perfectly captures the story’s playful spirit.
