Issue #17 of Image's post-apocalyptic horror series Spread presents a striking cover by Felipe Sobreiro: a pale, green-haired figure clutches a sword while being consumed — or perhaps empowered — by a mass of writhing red tendrils and organic, bulbous tissue that swallows the lower half of their body. The deep crimson palette against a dark, star-flecked background gives the image an unsettling, almost mythological intensity. Justin Jordan's grim world of biological terror is on full display here, rendered with visceral detail that makes this 2016 entry in the series hard to put down.
