Spider-Man / Deadpool #12
The holiday season gets an irreverent Marvel makeover in this 2017 issue, with Dave Johnson's cover depicting a very busy Santa Claus hauling an enormous gift sack — out of which tumble Deadpool (armed with katanas and a knife), Spider-Man, and what appears to be a masked figure among the scattered presents, while an oversized mash-up of both heroes' faces peers down from above, Deadpool's half sporting a festive Santa hat. The cover copy cheerfully promises a story from writers Paul Scheer and Nick Giovannetti involving fighting, gambling, and "bro-ing out with Santa Claus," which sets a wonderfully chaotic holiday tone that artist Todd Nauck and colorist Rachelle Rosenberg carry into the interior. If your Christmas list includes super-powered shenanigans wrapped in candy-cane stripes, this one delivers.
