Spider-Island: The Amazing Spider-Girl #2
The second chapter of this 2011 Marvel limited series puts Spider-Girl in immediate peril, and Patrick Zircher's cover makes the stakes viscerally clear — a massive, bald, grimacing brute clutches the red-haired, black-suited heroine in one meaty fist, the pair surrounded by a tangle of webs and barbed wire against a bold crimson field. Writer Paul Tobin and artist Pepe Larraz, with colors by Andres Mossa, continue a story that's firmly embedded in the Spider-Island event, and the title "And Crept Up Beside Her…" hints at something closing in fast. If you enjoy street-level tension wrapped in sharp superhero action, this one delivers the atmosphere in spades.
