Spider-Gwen: Smash was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 and launched in December of that year as a four-issue limited series written by Melissa Flores with art by Enid Balám, following the previous Spider-Gwen: Shadow Clones run by Emily Kim and Kei Zama. Flores brought to the book her background on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and Balám — a Mexican artist with prior Marvel credits on Reptil and Kate Bishop: Hawkeye — contributed a kinetic, stylized visual approach. Issue #4 was edited by Ellie Pyle under editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski and shipped March 13, 2024, with a cover-dated May 2024 indicia.
